The Information Technology Industry Development Agency (ITIDA) received a delegation from NxtVn— a company specialized in the development of big data centers. NxtVn official delegation showcased the proposed action plan and the steps forward for establishing a regional Center of Excellence and Innovation (CoEI), jointly between NxtVn and ITIDA in the field of data center technology and marine cable engineering. The CoEI is set to be launched within the first quarter of 2018.
During the meeting, ITIDA highlighted the significance of accelerating the process of launching the Center of Excellence, in parallel with the company's plans to establish a big data center in Borg Al Arab Technology Park via a strategic cooperation agreement with Silicon Waha—a company specialized in establishing and developing new technology parks.
The two parties agreed to inaugurate three branches for the regional center in Borg Al Arab Technology Park, Oulu city in Finland and the third one will be in the Netherlands. The Center will serve both parties to supporting and funding R&D, enhancing calibers' capacities and providing training in highly specialized areas related to marine cable engineering and landing station technologies.
ITIDA intends to sign a strategic agreement with NxtVn to enhance the competitiveness of the two parties; increase cooperation in the fields of joint research and development of technology in Egypt; and transfer the latest technologies in the data center industry and various infrastructure technologies, thus contributing to enhancing Egypt's position on the map of data center industry in the world.
